AMERICA’S    CUP   UPDATE  DECEMBER - JANUARY 2006/7

 The 32nd America’s Cup is around the corner commencing April 16th, 2007.

The President of Idea Works, Inc. in Dallas, my friend, Charles Ward said ”I have not seen a more prestigious international event than the America’s Cup”. It is the pinnacle of sailing fame for men and countries and one of the oldest sports events on record.

Check these sites for current news of personality changes and team information as they all will return to Valencia, Spain for a pre-start regatta called Act 13, April 3 to 7th 2007. The Cup's 11 Challengers will race each other for points over the period from the start April 16th 2007 to June 22nd. The winner will then meet to sail for the Cup against Alinghi of Switzerland from June 23rd to July 7th. Tons of Euros are involved, all for glory, no prize money. Favored for reasons of performance so far plus time and money are Alinghi of Switzerland, Emirates from New Zealand and BMW-Oracle the US entrant. Anything can and will happen. Ten countries from five continents are competing, even China and Union of South Africa.
